 There are probably as many different ways to homeschool as there are homeschoolers. It is important to choose a curriculum or learning style that is right for your family. On this page I share information about the curriculum that best suits our family. Yours may be different. Sonlight Curriculum is a literature-based homeschool program that uses many wonderful award-winning and classic books. My family has been using Sonlight since 1998. The combination of detailed Instructor's Guides plus great literature makes it a perfect fit for us. And, like many of today's families we are online a lot. Over the past several years I've found lots of helpful websites to supplement many of their books. Check out my For teaching reading, I recommend the 3rs Plus READ program which originated from Research and Development financed by the US Federal Government between 1966-1976. The instruction has been updated by 3RsPlus and is now available in printed format from Roads to Everywhere Publishing. Yes, that's us! We discovered this set of books when our daughter was struggling to learn phonics. After trying several other programs, this was the one that finally helped her make progress. At that time the books were only available in digital format, having been out-of-print for several years. My husband is a printer by trade, so we made arrangements with 3Rs Plus to make these available to other families in printed format at the lowest possible cost.   |
